Technical Competency:

 Safe Communications and Interviewing

Reference Stage

The reference stage can be very important and should not be overlooked. You can create a template which contains specific questions targeting Murad Code Values and Competencies to gain more insights on your candidate in previous roles.

Some potential questions which can be included for this competency:

  • “What formal skills building, learning exercises (such as training, mentored learning, role play/simulated, observed practice) in relation to survivor interviewing has the candidate undertaken while employed with you?”

  • “Have you observed the candidate demonstrate good judgement in deciding when not to probe further into a survivor’s experience, to avoid exacerbating stigma or harm? Please provide an example.”

  • “Would you trust this candidate to independently, safely and effectively handle interviews or documentation of SCRSV survivors?”

  • “If you had to assign the candidate to a frontline SCRSV documentation role tomorrow, what strengths would you highlight, and what concerns (if any) would you have?”

  • “What experience, specialised training, mentored learning and assessment does this candidate have of interviewing children about sensitive topics?”

  • “Could you rely on this candidate to plan and implement safe, survivor-centred, trauma-informed interviews remotely? Please provide illustrative examples to support your answer.”
