Technical Competency
Sexual Violence and Stigma Sensitisation
Reference Stage
The reference stage can be very important and should not be overlooked. You can create a template which contains specific questions targeting Murad Code Values and Competencies to gain more insights on your candidate in previous roles.
Some potential questions which can be included for this competency:
“In your experience, how well does the candidate understand the dynamics of SCRSV (e.g., its contextualisation in particular settings, its relation to other patterns of violence, its long-term radiating consequences)?”
“What approaches did the candidate use to build community or institutional understanding of SCRSV or stigma, and were they effective?”
“Can you share an example of how the candidate demonstrated awareness that SCRSV is not just an individual harm but also a community-wide and conflict-driven issue?”
“How has the candidate worked to reduce the risk of survivors being blamed, shunned, or silenced as a result of their engagement?”
“Have they shown the ability to train, mentor, or influence others on survivor-sensitive or stigma-aware practices?”
“Can you describe a situation where the candidate demonstrated sensitivity to the gendered and cultural dimensions of SCRSV (e.g., stigma faced by male survivors, children born of war, or survivors in honour-based cultures)?”
“Have you seen the candidate recognize, challenge or mitigate stigmatising language or attitudes (from colleagues, communities, or institutions) towards survivors of SCRSV? Can you give an example?”
